Product Description
Gone are the days of packing a single duffel for fall. Now college students and their families spend thousands on decorations and furniture to deck out their living space. Dorm Decor shows these budding designers how customizing store-bought items can transform a drab dorm room into a plush home away from home. Stylish lampshades, oversize floor pillows, cool bedding, curtains, message boards, and more add style, organization, and comfort to otherwise cramped quarters. Tons of color photos, straightforward instructions, pattern pieces, and small-space floor plans make an eye-catching face-lift simple to pull off.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and trendy for any crafty gal!   January 15, 2010

I was an art major in college, and sewing is not exactly my medium of choice, but the projects in this book were not difficult for me to grasp. There are smaller projects that do not require much experience or time (I did projects by hand), and then larger projects that will take a bit longer, but are so adorable that you can't help but try them out! Not only will you want to make the projects for yourself, but as gifts as well. Don't be thrown off by the title either-this is a great buy for craft lovers of all ages!

5 out of 5 stars Also inspiring for adults!   January 12, 2010

Gonzales' book is full of inspiring ideas that will have you looking at your dwelling in a new light. The projects are not intimidating, and the pay-off is huge. I learned a lot about textiles, and what's available really blew my mind. She proves that it doesn't have to be expensive or horribly time consuming to turn your pad into a warm and snuggly home. The projects are a great way to bond with your college-bound kid. Now if she would only do one for project for your pets, I would be head over tails for it.

5 out of 5 stars I wish my daughter had this book when she started dorming   January 13, 2010

My daughter received Dorm Decor going into her Senior in College. I wish she would have gotten it when she was a freshman! She made several of the crafts over the summer and is using them today after she graduated. I will be using this book as a gift idea for all our High School Seniors entering College.

5 out of 5 stars Great gift for high school graduation   January 21, 2010

I bought this for my little sis for Christmas, and it was a big hit. She's getting ready to head to college and is already mapping out her room. At first I was worried that some of the projects would be above her skill level, but there's a great range, and she's excited to start with the Freshman 101-type projects before moving on to the bigger ones. All in all, one of the more popular gift items at our family's Christmas!
